FAVOURABLE WEATHER. (Received 21, 11.45 a.m.) Sydney, Sept. 21. The weather in Sydney for the eclipse of the sun to-day is promising. Reports from the totality zone are of an optimistic tone.—(A. and N.Z.) partial eclipse of the sun takes place this evening, and Hastings residents should be able to observe it about 5.42. The greatest phase will be at about 5.45. People wishing to view the phenomenon cannot do better than station themselves on some high locality commanding a good view’ of the western horizon. Smoked or otherwise darkened glass mu»t be used for observing the eclipse, and on no account should the sun be looked at without sufficient protection for the eyes, or permanent injury to\ the sight may result.
