HAWKE’S BAY CHAMPIONSHIPS AND TOURNAMENT. The Hawke’s Bay golf championship and handicap tournament was continued on the Waiohiki links yesterday. The weather was fine, but a strong wind prevented many good scores being handed in. The first round of the championship L. Speedy (Lower Hutt) surprised everyone by defeating H. E. Crosse (Napier) by lup . As Crosse has won the provincial championship several times and has also held the New Zealand amateur honours, he was considered the likely winner for the meeting.
