HAVELOCK NORTH TOWN BOARD ELECTION.

(To the Editor.) Sir. —I would like to know what good purpose is served by such nonsense as has appeared in your paper over the name of “Exchange.” Some intelligents evidently look upon the Town Board election as a form of amusement. It shows the hold racing has upon people when even a Town Board election is compared to a hurdle race. 1 here may be or there may not be betting going on over the chances of the candidates, and if there is it shows a disgraceful state of affairs. I hope the article will be treated with the contempt it deserves.—l am, etc., • r W. S. DAVIDSON. Havelock N., 20/9/22. A SUGGESTION. (To the Editor.) Sir, After viewing tlie curtainraiser at the King Country v. Hawke's Day match last Saturday, 1 assure you that 1 with many, others was very pleasantly surprised to see what a goou game our x\apier High School boys played, and 1 am conndent that those who witnessed it would prefer to see another such game in preference to the Shield match. Xlould it be possible tor a match to be arranged with the winners of the Moascar Cup (the Auckland Grammar School) and the Napier High School team, as a fitting close to tne good season wo have i experienced in Hawke’s Bay, and the net proceeds to be handed to the greatest enthusiast of Rugby in this district, if not in the whole of New Zealand. 1 refer to Mr. Norris, who has been laid up for some time and whose health is still in a precarious way. XVherever this match was played, eitner Hastings or Napier, the gate would be assured. Trusting the Rugby Union will give this immediate attention.—l am, etc., AH. Hastings, 20/9/22.
