HAVELOCK TOWN BOARD ELECTIONS.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice in your issue of the 15th inst. advice tu candidates for Havelock Town Board, given by “Elector,” ana with your permission 1 shall be very pleased to accept the advice. My qualifications are: 1 have had about 15 years’ experience of local body work. The last place 1 served on was the Aero Road Board, whieii piace I held until we amalgamated into the Patangata County Council a short- tune time before 1 came to Havelock. My iuens are the adoption of a strong progress road policy. 1 behove that ths patch work that is going on in Havelock on the roads has helped to swell our overdraft, which overdraft is no credit to our late hoard. ' 1 do nut like overuiults in any shape, but £2573 or £l3B more than our general rates for the year is, “to say the least,” out of all reason seeing that there wdre no extraordinary reasons for the expenditure “or miscalculatioiL” 1 am not in favour of reducing the \ price of electricity until part of plant is payed for. I think it would be bad policy to reduce the price of our electricity and have to increase our rates. It would be very unfair to our settlers woh are holding some vacant suction. 1 tbulk the price asked for our eletdeity a is a fair one. I have not asked any elector vote fur iue. X simplj) say I am ut your service aud if you require me 1 am ready to do my best for you. NOTES BY “EXCHANGE.’* , Too thin; easily seen through, if I hud no more experience in local uhdiea or knowledge of road work than our worthy tipper, I would not offer you my service, but as there may be some electors who docs not know- who our worthy (tipper is I will try to explain him to you. He is the good old Hunch'Buck timekeeper we used to have in Hastings who likes to get into other peoples' boots when the job is finished, and then shout it is we, us and Co. that did this for you, sb if you wish to vote for him you cannot well miss him; he will give you plenty «u talk, but little worik. AU self. In conclusion I should advise you to vote for the best men that are offering. Lots of them are strangers to me. You will not offend me by not voting for me. But Ido hope you wilt give us some good men this time. They are badly required. Thanking you in anticipation.—l,am, etc., TI M- B. H. PRIEST. Havelock North, Sept. 19, 1922.
