LONDON WOOL SALES. ADVANCE ALL ROUND. London, Sept. 15. The wool sales have closed with rates the highest for the series. Competition was very strong throughout, especially from Yorkshire. A total of 120,000 bales was offered and practically all sold. All classes merinos have .shown a steadily hardening tendency throughout and closed 10 per cent, above August rates. Fine crossbreds met strong Home and Continental demand and closed 7J per cent, above August rates. Medium coarse advanced five per cent., finest slipes advanced ten per cent, and others five per cent. All grades of Australian and New Zealand lambs sold well at unchanged prices. FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKETS. WELLINGTON BROKERS’ REPORTS. (“Special to Tribune.”) Wellington, Sept. 16. Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London house:—Sales have closed firm. Oompiared with present London sales’ opening rates, greasy merino wool, suitable for Yorkshire, advanced 5 to 10 per cent. Wool suitable for Continent and scoured merino advanced 5 per cent. Crossbred greasy comeback and crossbred greasy fine, par to 5 per cent, advance, crossbred greasy medium, advanced 5 to 10 per cent., crossbred greasy coarse, market slow, no change; crossbred dingy and shabby, difficult to sell, compared with last London sales closing rates. Lamb market irregular, skin wool, crossbred fine to very fine, par to 5 per cent, advance. (Xher descriptions, market shows no change. Slipe fine crossbred, advanced 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, slipe other descriptions advanced 5 per cent. AUCTION CLEARING SALE. MOTOR CARS AND ACCESSORIES. Messrs Gill Bros report holding a most successful fire salvage sale ,at the Tourist Coy’s premises, when they offered new and second hand cars, motor cycles, and sundries. This was probably the biggest auction sale held in Hawke’s Bay for years and buyers were present from all over this island, and even from Christchurch and elsewhere in the South. The attendance was tremendous, and the sale was carried on the second day until the auctioneer had to leave to conduct another sale. All unsold lots are now for private sale. The following prices were realised:— Cars.—l2 28 Rover, local buyer, £375: 12 28 Rover, Dannevirke buyer, £505; 12 28 Rover, Napier buyer, £505. These cars were the worst damaged by fire; Austin car £185; Cadillac car £155, 7-seater Hudson £275, 5-seater Oakland £220, 5-seater Maxwell £2lO, 5-seater Kissell £l5O, 2-seater Partinpalmer £lB5, 3-seater Calthorpe £135. 3seater Arrol-Johnston; motor cycles, £7O, £65, £9O, £97. Many thousands of accessories tyres, tubes body builders lots, etc. were sold. TALLOW AND FROZEN MEAT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 13th inst:—Tallow: We quote present spot values for the following descriptions:—Fine mutton, 40s 94 per cwt; good beef 38s 6d per cwt, mixed 33s 6d per cwt. Improved demand. N.Z. frozen meat: Lamb 11 Id per lb; mutton, wether and maiden owe light 74 per lb, heavy 6|d per lb; owe light, 54d per lb, heavy s|d per lb. Beef, ox hinds, 4}d per lb. fores 3fd per lb; cow hinds 3Jd per lb, fores 2|d per lb. Demand still very slow.
