WAIPAWA.

Own Correspondent.) The Rev. Collier, who has been spending the week-end with Mr. Thorne, occupied the pulpit at St. Peter’s Church at last Sunday evening’s service. The political campaign opens here tonight (Monday), when Mr. G. W. Forbes, member for Hurunui, and Mr. Masters, member for Stratford, will deliver political addresses in the Liberal interest in the Municipal Theatre. A “paddy’s market” in aid of the Catholic Church funds was held in the Municipal concert hall on Friday. All the stalls were laden with produce, and the articles found a ready sale. During the evening many competitions were held, and a pleasing concert of musical and other items was given. The annual meeting of the Waipawa Horticultural Society is to be held tomorrow evening. The annual school ball takes place on Friday next, and undoubtedly will be largely patronised.
