WILL IT RECONCILE FRANCE? “DEALS” IN ALSACE. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.] London, Sept. 9. Possibility of a commercial agreement between France and Germany are discussed by the Paris correspondent of the “Times,” who quotes the opinion of the “Petit Parisien,” that the taking of labour for reparations out of the hands of the Government, and allowing commercial contracts to be concluded freely within the limits of the reparations’ agreements, is a notable step. The correspondent adds that the journal has visions of a great economic rapprochement, and hints at the German potash group of Alsace. Its gaze even extends to the days when Lorraine will exchange its iron-orn for Ruhr coal. This is going fast, but the same predictions are made perhaps with the same pen in “La Victoire.” Much is being said about a GermanAlsatian potash accord, alleged to have been readied. Were tnis movement to grow it would link up Franeo-German interests, and would cause a radical diange in reparations policy.
