COLD STORES STRIKE. * OF BRIEF DURATION. London, Sept. About 300 employees in cold stores aiound Smithfield struck against a reduction of wages of 17 s a week. The /.trike is only local and docs not affect the big stores or docks on the riverside, where the bulk of Australian and New Zealand meat is stored. Later. The strike has now been settled.— (A. and N.Z.) Messrs Hoadley, Son and Stewart, Ltd., draw attention to their Longlands stock sale to .he held to-morrow (Thursday). They draw special atten-' tion to a line of sheep to be offered on account of a To Pohue client (whose lease has expired) without reserve. A big yarding of both cattle and sheep is to oe offered. Imports decreased £5,893,258, exports increased £8,685,930 and re-ex-ports decreased £2,493,854. The principal decreases in imports were: Grain and flour, £4.126,250, meat £4,019,296 ' and non-dutiablo food and drink £2,- ' 670.227. The principal decrease in ex- ! ports was vehicles £3,751,150. The principal increases in imports | were: Raw wool £2,642.965, wood and j timber £1,956,660 and raw cotton j £1,916,461; in exports, cotton yarn' manufactures £4,893,536, iron and stool. £2,256,199 and woollen and worsted I yarns £1,881,972. —(A. and N.Z.)
