PROPOSAL TO HOLD CARNIVAL. The committee of the Hastings Holiday Association met in Mr. Mossman’s office tot day. when there was a full attendance of memebrs. The object of the meeting was to discuss the holding of a carnival \on Show Week, and while it was admitted that nothing very elaborate could be undertaken, owing to the busness people being very busy at that period of the year, yet some attraction should be provided, and various very useful suggestions were made, which comprised an entertainment or exhibition by our Maori friends, and masked or fancy dress ball, a competition in window dressing by various 'trades jjeople, promenade concerts, and various other items. The Holiday Committee only wished to take a lead, and a public meeting is advertised in this issue for Monday next in the Chamber of Commerce rooms. Queen street. Hastings, at 7.30 p.m. sharp, when all business people, and the general public who are interested, are asked to attend and bring suggestions that they have, so that th© matter can be finally decided on at that meeting.
