Australian mails ex Ulima-roa are due by the mail train this evening. Robert Frame, a. widower, aged 77. employed at the Riccarton racecourse, received fatal injuries yesterday through a shod which ho was assisting to remove falling on him. The Waipori, which arrived at Auckland from Westport yesterday, saw no signs At the Supreme Court in Gisborne Charles Frederick Buscke appeared on re-trial on a charge of having failed within three years prior to bankruptcy to keep pi’oper books to show his trans actions and financial position. After a lengthy retirement the jury returned a verdict of not guilty. At the Supreme Court in Auckland, William Henry Bowman was sentenced to three years’ reformative treatment for failing to comply with the terms of a probation order in respect to a charge of forgery. The judge said the probation system*was no empty form. 1 Any man once liberated who fails to comply with the conditions must be punished. The Act enabled the Court to deal leniently with offenders in order that they may have a chance of % rehabilitating themselves as respectable members of the community.
