A cable from London states that the Aberdeen University conferred the Doctorship of Laws on Queen Mary. A London cable announces the death of Mr Lewis Haslam, M.P. for Newport (Mon.) since 1919. The funeral of the late Mrs Martin Baird took place this afternoon, when a large number of mourners followed her remains to their last resting place ’in the Havelock Cemetery, where a most impressive burial service was conducted. The largo number of beautiful wreaths laid upon the coffin testified to the great esteem in which the deceased lady was held.
