COSY DE LUXE. “Tho Lane that had no Turning,” starring Agnes Ayres, of “The Sheik” fame, is a fine production from the Paramount studios. The story was written by Sir Gilbert Parker, and is admirably adapted to the screen. Theodore Kosloff, as Louis Racine, is splendid, and as Madelinette, Miss Ayres is charming. “Tracked to Earth” stars Frank Mayo, and an unusual story is unfolded, the interest being held to the last minute. The topical gazettes and a travel picture are excellent supports. To-nignt will be the last time of screening. | MUNICIPAL. The feature on the current programme at the Hastings Municipal theatre is “The Charming Deceiver,” starring Alice Calffoun. In this picture the star assumes the role of a yourtg wife whoso husband is in jail and who has met with adversity. Her mother had previously married against the wishes of the parents and was disowned. At the opening of the story the young girl is being evicted from a tenement house in Montreal. She handles this scene in an unusual manner and wins tho sympathy of the audience from the first flash. “The Leather Pushers,” the popular boxing picture, a further episode of “The Winners of the West” serial, a comedy and gazettes are the supports. Matinee. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons matinees will be held, when the long-looked-for picture “The Birth of New Zealand” will be featured. It is an entrancingly historical story of courage, stamina, grit and devotion to the Empire, that instantaneously. appeals to old and young. The vivid pages of New Zealand’s early history is revealed on the screen in a series of fascinating and exquisite scenes. It is a picture that no one should miss. There will also be the usual supports.
