Mr. William Pearce, the newlyelected Labour member for the Frankly constituency (Tasmania) died as a result of heart failure. The election writs are not returnable till 29th, after which deceased 15 s preferences will be distributed in the same manner as if he were a discarded candidate.

Mason, Crown Prosecutor at the Wagga quarter sessions, collapsed during a case and died a few minutes later. The N.S.W. State Cabinet discussed the proposal to send an orchestra with the Empire Exhibition, but decided to take no action.
