RE-EMPLOYMENT OF STRIKERS.
Capetown, April 4. In the Assembly, the Minister of Mines said that 7500 Europeans had been re-'employed in tho Rand gold mines since the strike was called off, and 6500 unsuccessfully sought re-em-ployment. The Minister of Defence explained that 13,000 troops were employed suppressing the revolt. Rifles used were of great variety and collected) from all sources The Government was considering the advisability of introducing an Arms and Ammunition Act for the better control of arms. —(A. and N.Z.)
