HAMILTON DISASTER.
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. TRIBUTE TO MOORE JONES. Hamilton, April 5. It is now stated that the shue found in the debris of the Haimlton Hotel did not contain a woman’s foot. Little doubt, however, is entertained that the maid, Nellie Wood, perished. At the inquest, the body found was identified as that of Donald, known as “Rory’’ O’Moore, by deceased’s broth-er-in-law. The night porter said when the alarm was given he saw O’Moore, who had his trousers and boots on, and was pulling on his coat and vest, but did nut see him again. The police stated that inquiries accounted for all the male persons in the hotel except O’Moore. The coroner said he was satisfied that the body was that of O ’Moore. The inquest is proceeding. A gang of men is searching the ruim for traces of the missing woman. At the inquest on Moore Jones, great tribute was paid deceased’s gallantry. The coroner said no doubt he lost his life endeavouring to save others. A verdict was returned that death was due to burns and shock.
