The new technical school building opened by the Minister of Education at Waipukurau yesterday, is a fine stately edifice, with rough-cast and brick on the outside and plastered inside. There are two class-rooms, one science room, one teachers’ room, a library and cloak room, all finished off in an expert manner and well lighted and ventilated. In each class-room and science room there is an open fireplace. The architect was Mr. C. J. Boland, of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, and the contractor Mrr. A. B. Davis, of Greenmeadows. It is a building worth while and reflects great credit on all those concerned. The contract price was about £5,900. At the Napier Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, before Mr R. W Dyer, S.M. Puti Edwards (Mr Rogers) claimed from Thu Hohaia, of Wharerangi, to recover one gold ring set with diamonds valued at £l2 10s. Mr Rogers stater that the ring was given to the girl by a young man named Rangi. Afterwards she had an argument with the defendant’s wife as to the quality caret of the ring, which was passed around and she did not see it again. One witness said she saw Tan wearing it, but this the defendant denied, stating that he had not worn a ring for ten years. His Worship non-suited plaintiff., with £2 19/ costs.
