MUNICIPAL THEATRE HASTINGS

MONDAY EVENING

An entirely new combination of performers known by the novel title of

“Q.P.’s. (an abbreviation for Quality Permormers) under the direction of Southwood’s Ideal Attractions, Limited—will make their first appearance here on Monday next, when 17 talented artists will present a programme of new andl novel items, entitled “A Harvest of Humour and Harmony.” Every item is suitably dressed and receives an appropriate setting. The performers are all thorough artists in their respective spheres. The vocalists are supported by an orchestra of talented players. There will be various melodies ami harmonies introducing ukeleles, mandolins, steel guitars, banjos, violins, flute,, piccolo, cornet, trombone, xlylophone chimes, tubes, and other instruments. The personnel of the company includes three comedians,, a male quartet, five talented ladies, an orchestra and a jazz band. The comedians are Geo. Sharratt, Harry Webster, and the man with a thousand song.s_ Loanard Nelson, who just recently completed a twelve years’ engagement with a theatrical management’. Among the vocalists the company has Mr Aneurin J. Morris,, the West-Australian lyric tenor, and Miss Hazel Fuller, the New Zealand soprano, both of whom won such phenomenal popularity. in Sydney when appearing with Verbrugghen’s N.S.W. State Orchestra. The big musical numbers to be included in the first programme are a grand opera scena from the “Tales grand opera scena from '‘The Tales of Hoffman,” introducing “Drig Drig” “The Drinking Song,” and the famous “Barcarolle,” and a syncopated grand opera item “Verdi,” in which the works of many great composers are introduced in a new and novel way. The company has just completed a phenomenally successful six weeks’ season in Auckland. The Press eulogised their efforts with such statements as “Altogether of a quality much hevond the usual.”—Auckland “Star.” 20/1/1922. “The word quality as applied to them is no misnomer.” — “New Zealand Herald,” 20/1/1922. The Wellington Press was equally of the opinion that this company is the best of its kind ever seen in New Zealand. The box plan is now open at Riddell’s.
