GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS.

Wellington, March 18

The Meat Producers’ Board has been sitting continuously during the ■week under tlie chairmanship of Mr David Jones, M.P., all members being present. A very large amount of correspondence, both from within and without New Zealand, was dealt with. 4 The future activities of the board were exhaustively discussed and it was stated that the foundations of a sound and progressive policy were laid. The board had a meeting with the representatives of shipping companies yesterday and discussed the possibility of an early reduction in certain rates of freight, also methods by which the board can co-operate with shipping companies in securing improved methods and lower costs in loading produce in New Zealand. Mr W. D. Hunt was present at a meeting of the board yesterday. The board has now secured permanent offices.
