JUVENILE BURGLARS.

PICTURES BLAMED. Two juveniles appeared before the Magistrate in Napier this morning charged with twelve different lots 01 theft. The articles included tobacco, combs, purses, knives, lime juice, rug, cheques, sweets, electric torches, etc. The total value of goods taken was £5l 10/, while cheques • taken were valued at £124. The thefts have ranged over a period of several weeks. The lads pleaded guilty to all the thefts.

His Worship (Mr. Dyer, S.M.) said he did not know whether to send the boys to the training farm or to give them another chance to go straight. He decided to convict them and put laem on probation. Detective Sergeant Butler stated that one of the conditions should be prohibition from attending, pictures. His Worship asked the boys to tell him honestly whether the pictures had suggested the stealing to them. Both boys said yes. They had seen a man breaking into a house, and had thought it a good example to follow. One of the conditions of the probation was that neither of the laus attend a picture show for two .years.
