Mr Seddon, M.P., says an exchange, after his marriage, will settle permanently in Greymouth, where he will practice his profession as a solicitor. Mr. J. Georgeson, of the Labour Department, Christchurch, who has been renewing old acquaintances in Napier, left by the mail train this morning on his return. Mr. A. Ward, chief racecourse detective, who has been attending the JH B Jockey Club’s summer meeting, left Napier on his return to Wellington this morning. Mr. J. B. Kirk, of Palmerston North, who is secretary of the New Zealand Racehorse Owners’ and Trainers’ Association, established a year ago, is at present in this district, on a visit to Air. J. Walker, “The Valley,” Maraekakaho. Air. Kirk, speaking of his association, says it is progressing steadily and promisingly. The funeral of Sister Frances Stack left the Hastings Catholic Church, for the Hastings cemetery this afternoon, when a large and representative gathering of citizens followed the re. mains to the graveside, where Father Mahoney conducted the final service, previous to the body being lowered to its last resting place. Further particulars regarding her death state that the cause was acute nephritis primary, cardiac failure secondary, the trouble being aggravated by a drink of cordial.
