TO SHEARERS <fc SHEARING-SHED WORKERS. any SHEARER OR SHED-HAND who may be Dismissed by any Employer for refusing to join the Mataara Shearers’ Association are advised to immediately notify Arthur Cook, Organiser. Wellington Shearers’ Union, Post Oihce, Hastings. NOTE. —I have been approached by a number of members of the Wellington Shearers’ Union, and they state that they have been threatened with instant dismissal unless they agree to become members of the Mataara Association. As this will be a distinct Breach of the Award, action will be taken against every offender, and the Union will press for the maximum penalty of £lOO. The Mataara Shearers’ Association is an unregistered body, and has no legal standing. Members of the Mataara Association asisted the employers with evidence placed before the Judge of the Arbitration Court in favour of reducing Shearers and Shed-workers wages. Included in their membership are a number of Sheepowners and even Storekeepers. The Mataara Shearers' Association is an adopted child of the Employers’ Federation and is being assisted by the Employers in their Campaign of Victimisation, but their bluff will shortly bo called inside the Magistrate’s Court.
