Following upon the successful aerial exploration of the Sahara, a proposal is aioot to link up Southern Algeria with the Niger, across the desert, by means of caterpihar-wlieeled motor cars, which it is believed will be able to cover 1860 miles in a fortnight. Petrol tanks have been specially constructed to prevent evaporation, and the cars .have been subjected to the severest tests, including climbing hotel stairs with five passengers, turning at the top and coming down again.—(.\. and N.Z.)
