AUSTRIA’S FINANCE.
NEW MINISTER’S HOPES. TO STOP PRINTING OF NOTES. (Received 17, 9.0 a.m.) Vienna, October 15. M. Guertler, the new Minister of Finance, speaking in the National Assembly, outlined a far-reaching programme and effort to restore the financial situation in Austria. He proposes to gradually reduce and abolish food subsidies, reorganise the administration, reducing the number of officials. The State is also to take a share in the export of industries and issue an internal loan on the basis proposed by the League of Nations. It is hoped these, with minor measures, Ayill bring bank note printing presses to a standstill, —(A. and N.Z.)
