CELEBRATIONS AT TARADALE. I CONCERT AND TROPHY PRESENTATION. | A most fitting conclusion to a most successful season was held by tho Tara.dale League Football Club in the form of a smoke concert in.the Town Hall I last night. Tho supper rooms were ! packed with players and enthusiasts of the game. Air. F. O’Connor was in the 1 chair. The following was the toast list: j “The King,” “H.B. Rugby League,” | “Kindred Clubs,” “Third Grade j Team,” “Kindred Sports,” “Supporters,” “Juniors,” “Seniors,” “Ladies” and “Flayers.” Tho following contributed vocal items and were loudly applauded: Alessrs. Walpole, Bullivant, Manley, Ireland, Teingham, Anderson and Englebretsen. PRESENTATIONS. In presenting the Hawke’s Bay j Northern League School Cup to tlie 'local sclioo:., Mr, G. Prater congratulated tne boys upon the high standard ■of tneir play aim for the Keen interest i they snowed 111 tne game, j Mr. A. Englebretsen (coach) on • behaif of the school, 111 accepting the cup said \tnat ho had always endeavoured to teach tne boys to play tne game for what it is wofui, not just to win trophies. In presenting tne Hawke’s Bay Northern League Challenge Shield Mr. Prater eulogised the seniors for their excellent football and sportsmanlike play throughout the season, it had been a great object lesson for enthusiasts. They looked to the seniors to draw tho people and ho considered . that tnero was a great future for League 111 Hawke’s Lay, Air. McCutcheon, on behalf of the team, in accepting the shield said that they alwaj s tried to play tiie game like sportsmen. xne presentation of tho Charity Cup •.to tho seniors was next. Air. Prater said he was sure that it was the most coveted cup in Hawke’s Bay and had been always most keenly contested for. B'o congratulated tho winners 111 wresting it from Westshore. Tne Third Grade Challenge Cup presented by W. J. Perritt and a party jof Hastings enthusiasts, and to be known as tne Hastings Cup was won by

( tho thirds. Air. Webb, secretary of H.B. League, ■ said that the success oi the League 111 j the district was largely due to the ■Taradale players, ana they had been ■ the means ol winning many converts. Ho held that the Thirds gave even a , better exhibition of footbail than the ■ seniors, because they threw the ball about more. He hoped that the supporters in Hastings would be able to es- \ tablish a club there, and next season ■ they may have to- defend the Cup against a Hastings team. ; Air. A. Englebretsen said that the (Thirds progressed in tho game better than the Seniors because they would always do what they were told, and ho attributed their success to keen interest and keeping together. Although Taradale teams have won the laurels this season, to hold them they would have to keep their shoulders to the j wheel. 1 A most enjoyable evening was I brought to a conclusion by the singing of tlie National Anthem. A PERSONAL TRIBUTE. j On behaif of tho many supporters of tho League game in Taradale, 1 ' would like to adu a few words oi praise to Air. Englebretsen, the worthy secretary 0/ the club (writes our correspondent). He has worked untiringly throughout the season coaching uw teams, and ho is deserving of the highest praise for tlie interest he has taken, which has always been for the I wutlare of the club. He has shown 1 himself to be a thorough sport, and we feel sure with “Arthur” at tho helm again next season the honours just won will be retained lor the club’s keeping.
