LATE LOCALS.
Tho Local Bodies Finance Bill was read the second time in the House yesterday. The following bills in the House yesffrday were introduced and read a first time:—Dominion State Bank Bill (No. 2' (Mr. W. A. Veitch), Hunter Gift for tho Settlement of Discharged Soldi<?rK (the Hou. D. H. Guthrie). Mr. Massey announced yesterday that owing to pressure of Parliamentary business, he must limit interview# by deputations to Thursdays. Replying to Mr. F. F. Hockly, tho Hon. G. J. Anderson said the sulphn” deposits at Rotorua are being reserved for future use. At present they ar« rather remote, and tho sulphur could not easily be got out. 2V sale of work was held in Wesley Hall on Thursday afternoon and evening, when it was largely patronised and proved very successful, the sum of £BO being handed to the church trustees as a result. The following ladies wore in charge of the stalls:—Mesdames J. Garrat t, Mcßcan, Garland, Newton (produce); Bishop and Rogers (eggs); Hoar and Curtis (cakes'); G. Garratt, White. Remnant. Butler, Tcarle, .Tones (refreshments); Doubleday. Don, Mastors( flower); Misses Masters and' Garnett (sweets); Mrs Common and Miss Lens (fruit salad) and the junior girls’ Bible class had charge of the bran tub.
