WELCOME IN WASHINGTON. Washington, October 13. In reference to the aptpomtment of the Aew Zealand and Australian delegates to the Armament Conference, there is a feeling of satisfaction manifested here. Their reception will be of the warmest. Nowhere in America is Australia’s position better understood than m official quarters at WashingV 0- Senator Pearce and Sir John Salmond are not personally widely known, it is pointed out in the case of Senator Pearce that he is the man who was nominally occupied in the supervising of Australia’s defence, and is particularly suitable to participate in the discussion respecting the limitiu tion of armaments.—(A. and N.Z.)
