HAVELOCK NORTH TOWN BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Havelock north Town Board was held last evening. , Present: —Messrs E. C. Clarkson (chairman), H. A. Mossman, J. J. Nimon, J. Phillips and P. J. Sefton. Leave of absence was granted Messrs L. T. Cooper and J. H. Joll. Correspondence was dealt with as under:—• From the East Coast Railway and Development League, asking the Board to appoint three delegates to constitute a provisional committee to further consider the setting up of an Electric Power Board for Hawke’s Bay.—Mr. H. A. Mossman appointed a delegate. From the Post and Telegraph Dept., Hastings calling attention to the Board’s electric light pole opposite to Simla Avenue, which is nearly touching the Department’s main line.— Matter attended to. From the Napier Harbour Board inviting the Town Board to send a delegate or delegates to meet their representatives in the Borough Council chambers, Hastings, on Friday October 14th at 2.30 p.m. ro the Napier Harbour Board Enabling Bill 1921.— The chairman reported attending the meeting, with the town clerk-and detailed what had been done. He would recommend the board not to oppose the Bill as amended.—The chairman’s action was approved. From the Rev. R. Waugh applying for an additional water connection to lona College bath.—The cost to bo ascertained first and the matter be left in the chairman’s and Mr, Mossman’s, hands.

From Mr. P. J. Sefton, on behalf of the Swimming Baths Executive, applying for a two inch water connection to the public swimming baths, also asking permission to connect the baths with the sewer, and undertaking that the bath water shall! not pass through the septic tank.—Application granted, subject to Mr. Climie’s approval, and water connection to bo put in by the board. From the Public Health Department Napier, notifying that Inspector Collings had taken over the duties of Inspector of Health for the H.B. County, from Inspector Gardiner, from October 1. —Received. From the office of Chief Inspector of Explosives, Wellington, advising that the board will bo gazetted a Licensing Authority under the Act.— Received,, the Board’s Inspector appointed inspector. From the . H.B. County Council agreeing to metal part of the Te Mata road, also agreeing and accepting the conditions set out in the board’s letter re reinstating and maintaining boundary bridges.—Received. The plan of the proposed swimming baths was formally approved by the board. The chairman proposed a vote of thanks to Mr. Nimon for taking out the members of the hoard to the Maraetotara hydro-electric works. He mad* a short progress report saying everything was going on well. The following accounts were passed for payment: General account £257 0s lOd; loan account £258 16s; cemetery account £2O 3s 7d.
