KAIAPOI CUP. Hastings 3 v. Dannevirke 1. The ground was in excellent order and thc weather everything that ceuld be desired yesterday afternoon at Cornwall Park for thc match, in which Dannevirke challenged Hastings, thc holders, for possession of the Kaiapoi Cup ( for thc season. A good even game resulted from the start, when Dannevirke instituted an attack, the effectiveness of which was, however, handicapped by their impetuosity. The visitors forwards did good work, bu\ they were up against a proposition in the opposing van, who got the ball into Dannevirke’s circle, from where Crawford drew first blood for Hastings. The visitors continued thpir aggression, but the defence of thc homo team, in which Murley and Brimmer figured prominently, was too solid and the first half was sounded with the score unchanged.
