WAIPUKURAU DRAINAGE SCHEME
MAIN SEWER CONTRACT TENDER ACCEPTED. — Tenders were opened by the Borough Council on for the second section of the main sower construction, and of two tenderers the engineers reported that Mr 11. Price was the lowest at £2381 19s Id. The engineer stated that the price was reasonable and recommended acceptance. This was agreed to. It was pointed out that it would not be advisable to start this section much before December next, as the area concerned was very wet till the summer months. The question of going on with several branch sewers, foi which tenders were received was discussed, but it was emphasised that the council should not cnten into commitments is excess of the £lO,OOO until a further portion of the loan was available. It was decided however to accept Mr Price’s tender for this work also, subject to the council being able to secure the second instalment of the sewerage loan. Mr W. Roy was authorised to advise property owners as to the most suitable places for putting in set vice connections. The engineer recommended that no junctions be placed in front of vacant sections and Giis was agreed to.
