RETURNED SOLDIERS’ BALL.

BRILLIANT FUNCTION IN NAPIER The annual ball of the Napier Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the Municipal Theatre last night and was a brilliant success, fully 200 couples occuping the floor. The largo stage which was utilised for the dancing, was artistically decorated and presented a very pretty sight. The Maori orchestra supplied excellent music, which was greatly appreciated. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Mrs Arthur Dickson and Mrs de Denne assisted by Miss Kennedy. The tables were nicely laidout with streamers of purple and gold, producing a lattice work effect, which added to the general effectiveness of the colour scheme. Miss Ashton was responsible for this part of the work, for which she is deserving of great credit. The extras were played by the Napier Jazz Band under the direction of Miss M. Healey. Mrs Gilray and Mrs Hutchinson were the organisers of the ladies’ committee, while Messrs E. and T. Dunn and D. Corbett wore joint secretaries of the general committee, with Mr. J. Mason as chairman, and it is due to them and the general working committee that the function was such a great success.
