The Niagara left Auckland at 12.55 p.m. to-day for Vancouver. Tho condition' of Mr George Nelson was reported to slightly improved at noon to-day. Tho health of Mr Newton King has improved, and he is able to leave Christchurch for his home in New Plymouth. The death occurred at XVellington yesterday from pneumonia, following an attack of malaria, of Mr Henry A. Smithson, M.A., a member of tho teaching staff of XVellington College. Miss XV. Fraser, of tho Napier Girls * High School, has accepted a position dpi assistant tehclif-f at the Palmerston North Girls’ High School. She will . take up her duties in September. | I
