NAPIER BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Napier Borough Council met last night, when there were present: —His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. B. Andrew)., and Crs. Creagh, Smith, Harvey, Black, Hill, Ashcroft, Clark, Biyant, Bennett, Hobson and AVood. Bishop of AA r aiapu wrote, strongly protesting against the cutting of trees, branches and creepers which neither shut off the light of the laiups in Brewster Lane, nor impeded those who use the lane. Ho also protested against the throwing of the cuttings over the fence into his garden.—Electrical Engineer to report. It was decided that Crs Harvey and Bryant meet the secretary of the N.Z. Institute of Architects, with a view to discussing the question of fees payable for building permits, and'to consider the institute’s suggestion that the fee now payable, viz., 10s, for alterations or additions, costing £lOO or less, be reduced to a maximum charge of 2s 6d for any alterations or additions involving an outlay of not more than £25. Cr Bryant moved: “That copies of the minutes of all meetings of the council be posted to councillors—previous to the next meeting—thereafter minutes to bo taken as read and confirmed without being read.” Seconded by Cr. Ashcroft and carried. After several other unimportant matters had been dealt with, the council went into committee.
