THE CANCER SCOURGE.
WORLD-WIDE ALARMING INCREASE. (Received 15, 9.25 a.m.) London, Aug. 13. The “Times” medical correspondent draws attention to the formidable increase in cancer based on the latest statistical tables- Every civilised country —markedly Europe and America—have practically doubled the rate of mortality. In tho United Kingdom during the past twenty years the growth of bowel cancer suggests the influence of tho present-day habits of feeding. —(“Times.”)
