MAORI CHILDREN S FRIGHTFUL DEATH. Thames. July 22. Two Maori children. Taha Maikato. aged 12 months, and Kati Maikato. a<red 3 years were fatally burned in - wliare at Kerepehi (Hauraki PlaintFour children were in bed in a wliare with a tin burning wood in the centre The mother had gone off to a store for candles leaving a girl aged V- years in charge. The latter fell asleep and the tin overturned firing the blankets. The girl rescued two of the children, but the ether two received burns from which thev shortly succumbed. Hie was not materially damaged, only the blankets being destroyed.
