BOXING.

HOLLAND-CLABBY MATCH ABANDONED. Wanganui, July 20. The contest between Holland and Clabby, which was to have taken place on Friday night, lias been abandoned. The match was originally arranged between Uren and Holland, the purse being £5OO. Uren is suffering from mumps and Clabby was therefore wired and asked if he would fight Holland for £4OO. Clabby wired his acceptance. This morning Clabby, who arrived last night, declared he had not been aware that Uren and Holland were to fight for a £5OO purse, and declined as a matter of principle to fight for a lesser sum. Both sides are adamant, so the contest is abandoned.. Later. It is now stated, that Clabby, while reiterating his determination not to fight for less than the purse of £5OO offered for the Uren-Holland match, intimated to the executive that he was willing that they should hand the £lOO to any local charitable institution.
