UNREASONABLE PRICES.
CIGARETTES, DISINFECTANT AND RABBIT TRAPS. CHRISTCHURCH CASES. Christchurch, July 20. Nine informations alleging breaches of the anti-profiteering section of the Board of Trade Act, 1919, have been laid against two Christchurch firms, a Lyttelton firm and a Christchurch chemist by the secretary of the Christchurch Price Investigation Tribunal. Six of the nine information have been laid against a firm of tobacco importers and fancy goods merchants, and all relate to the alleged unreasonably high price charged for Clarence cigarettes. ’ a Another flrm of merchants is being proceeded against on a similar charge in respect of the same brand of cigarettes, Tho chemist is being proceeded against for having, it is alleged, charged an unreasonably high price for a “Winchester” (half -gallon) of Borol. This is a proprietary line used as a mouth wash and disinfectant. .4 Lyttelton firm is to be called upon to answer a charge of selling rabbit traps at a price alleged to be unreasonably high.
