INFANT DROWNED.

SAD FATALITY AT RAUPERE.

A distressing fatality occurred at Raupere, Flaxmere, yesterday morning, whereby the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brunton, aged one year and ten months, was drowned. . It appears that the little one w , as playing at the rear of the dwelling w-ith some other children, and separating from her companions, the child wandered to the other side of the house. About a quarter of an hour afterwards the mother missed her baby, and went to investigate, with the result that the poor infant was found in a big dram, near the residence. The body being taken out, the parents applied artificial respiration movements nnavaihngly, and, on arrival, Dr. Wilson pronounced life to be extinct. An inquest was held this, afternoon at 4 o’clock.
