SIRES’ PRODUCE STAKES. One of the most Important events of the year, namely, the Sires’ Produce Stakes, eventuated on Saturday last. The entries were good, seven lofts contributing 20 birds. The birds were liberated in Wellington at 9 a.m. in splendid racing weather, the winner proving to be E. Vogtherr’s Red Checker Cock ‘‘Khedive,” who also registered the highest velocity of the present young bird season, flying the 152 miles in 3hre. 63min. 20secs. Ist. E. Vogtherr’s Red Chequer Cock ‘‘Khedive,” 1199 yards. 2nd, J. E. Sands' Blue Chequer Cock “Stitch.” 1196 yards. 3rd, W. A. Alexander’s Blue Chequer Cock “Lone Evans,” 1186 yards. 4th, W. A. Alexander's Blue Chequer Cock “Belalie,” 1186 yards. sth, Alf. Brittin’s Black Chequer Cock “The Slug,” 1175 yards. 6th, J. R. Sullivan’s Blue Chequer Cock ‘‘Successful,” 1173 yards. 7th, T. H. Foxcroft’s Blue Chequer Cock “Nameless,” 1035 yards. Next week the Wellington Interval Race will be flown.
