SHOOTINGS IN CORK. DISQUIETING DEVELOPMENTS. EIGHTS WITH POLICE. London. March 12. There are disquieting develop meats at Cork in consequence of frequent shootings. Armed men wiivlaid three constables. returning to the suburban barracks Jate in the evening durv-g a storm. Several shots wore fired and Constable Scullv was killed. At a meeting of the Cork Corporation. the Lord Mavor and others expressed the disapproval of the police entering clubs and houses and firing rifles in the streets. They declared that citizens were ccripelhd to take steps for self-preservation.— (A. and N.Z.)
