ACQUISITION OF LAND.
LOCAL BOARDS APPOINTED. Some time ago the Minister of Lands (Hon. D. Fl. Guthrie) announced that in order to expedite the acquisition of lands for settlement by returned soldiers, an dalso to assist the Land Purchase Board in coining to right decisions in respect of land offered for sale to the Government, he would appoint local Land Purchase Boards to co-oper-ate with the Central Board. The appointment of these local boards is gazetted. Following are the appointees for the districts named:— I Taranaki —James Francis Stevenson,! of Manaia ; William Brooks Grant, of; New Plymouth ; Leslie Hamilton, of Manutaihi. Hawke’s Bay (Gisborne) —Charles Matthews, of iGsborne; Edward Brabazon Boland, of Tolaga Bay ; Alfred Joseph Faulkner, of Muriwai. Napier—Matthais Paulsen, of Taka-' paw; Alexander Millar, of Longlands: Stanley. Bennett, of Totigoio. Wellington (West Coast) —Oscar. Monrad. of Palmerston North; James Gedrgetti, of Wanganui; James M'Ewen, of Tiakitahuna.
