HAWKE’S BAY AUTUMN SHOW.

SCHEDULE OF CLASSES. • The schedule for the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral. Society’s Autumn Show to be held on 23rd and 24th March has now been issued. We note that this progressive society has made maiiy alterations and additions to last year’s schedule with a view to increasing the attractiveness of the show and still further increasing its popularity both with the public and with exhibitors. Each section of the schedule has been carefully revived, and’ as a result entries should be considerably increased.

In the Horae Industries Section a number of new classes have been added and six guineas offered in special prizes throughout this, section, which included points prizes for cakes, scones, etc., in the Open and Children’s Classes. The Fruit (Section has been added to* by several new. classes and additional special prizes and trophies, including a trophy value £5 5/- (to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals) for champion collection of dessert apples. Intending exhibitors in these classes, also in classes for collection of cooking and export apples, will note that the number of varieties have been reduced to four, 20 specimens of each. Attention is also drawn to the altered conditions in the cased apples and peace classes. The Vegetable and Poultry Sections are on the same liberal scale as those of last year and intending exhibitors in the latter should note that birds entered for competition must have been hatched after July Ist, 1919. The Fields Section has been added .to by a class for best acre of potatoes "grown in Hawke’s Bay. With a view of adding to the attractiveness .of the Horticultural Section a numer of new classes of a decorative nature have been added, and a separate leaflet of these classes is being issued and will be forwarded to all interested. The competitions are as usual on a very liberal scale.. Copies of the schedule may be procured free on application to- the society’s office, Tennyson street, Napier, or from Mr. J. R. Lanauze, Queen st?-eet, Hastings. Entries elcsc on 10th March.
