ALARMING FALLS. WALL STREET DISTURBED. New York, Feb. 3 The exchage market was virtually demoralised to-day when the pound sterling touched 3 dollars 33 cents and a half, and the franc andjne lire dropped to similar levels, jne stock market felt the effect, which took the form of a break in prices. The pound stalling later recovered two points, and The exchange market somewhat recovered its firmness ANOTHER BIG DROP. (Received 5, 8.50 a.m.) New York, Feb. «. The sterling exchange is 3.24 i.-— dollars.—(A. and N.Z.) DOWN TO 3.19 J. (Received 5, 12.50 p.m.) New Tork, I eb. 4. The sterling exchange improved to 3.31 dollars on the nunour that Britain had prohibited the importation of cotton, but later it fell to 3191.
