NAPIER. MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 1920. (Before Mr. R. W. Dyer, S.M.) • Walter ' Richard Leary pleaded guilty to drunkenness in street on January 3rd, making uSe of obscene language, and resisting the policeman in the execution of his duty. His Worship convicted on. all charges and ordered a fine of £5, in default one month’s imprisonment. Robert Blanch , pleaded guilty to two charges of procuring liquor and entering licensed premises whilst prohibited. Senior Sergeant Eales stated..his ■employer had given him - a good character and wanted him back as he was a good - worker. Accused was convicted and orderbed to come up for sentence when called upon. His Worship warniti s him that, on the next occasion, he would to one of the islands for two years. . - Henry Pockett pleaded * guilty to procuring liquor while .-prohibited. He stated he thought his order had run out. He had been’ Oh active Service and latterly on a hospit&l snip and had taken out his own probibi- | tian order. Senior Sergeant Eales stated the. man had been drinking continuously and had been treating . his wife badly. A fine amounting to £2 and costs ' 7/- were entered up. UNCUSTOMED GOODS. William de Ffiez on charges’,of having in his possession uncustomed . goods to the Customs valiie of £/P asked for an adjournment for a week to enable nim to get legal advice. This was agreed to. ■ DANGEROUS DRIVING. D. Lawless pleaded guilty, by letter, to driving at a dAilgeroyp ; speed along the Marine Parade. . This was stated by Chief Detective Ward to be SV miles an hour. A fine of £5 and costs 7/- was inflicted. - , ■
