Sowers of Strife.

ROUND UP IN AMERICA. RADICALS" RAIDED. IN THIRTY-FIVE CITIES. BOLSHEVIK LITERATURE SEIZED. IBs Cable — Press Association.—Oovyrisht.l New York, Jan. 2. Attorney-General Palmer announced that raids on the Radicals have been carried out in 35 cities. Hundreds of members of the Communist Party have been arrested. It is expected that the total will reach 1000. , , A Chicago message states that more than 2000 Radicals have been arrested on charges of disseminating Bolshevik literature and planning to overthrow the Government. It is reported that 500 Communists have been arrested in New York, 300 in Detroit, and 400 in Philadelphia. It is now estimated that the total will be 2000. Reports coming in from many cities shew that the Department of Justice is making a systematic attempt to thoroughly free the country from the Radicals, especially members of the Communist Party, which recently issued a manifesto advocating the overthrow of the American Government. It is intimated that the Government will begin deportation proceedings against many of those arrested. Large quantities of Radical literature were also captured.—(A. and N.Z.) 45,000 ARRESTED. HALF FOR DEPORTATION.

(Received 5, 10.30 a.m.) Washington, Jan. 3. The total arrests of Radicals exceed 45,000. Half probably will be deported immediately. The deportation of Martens, the Soviet Ambassador, is impending.—(A. and N.Z-)
