Auckland, Jan. 1. The third day of the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting was held to-day in fine weather before a large gathering. The course was in good order and the racing excellent- Boyal Stag’s win in the Derby was something of a surprise, but the victory was highly popular. SUMMER MEETING,

The above club was favoured with fine, weather and a large attendance for the opening day of their summeu meeting. The racing was of an interesting nature tnroughout, and some close and exciting finishes were witnessed. The Hastings Town Band, under Bandmaster W. McDowell, as usual enlivened the proceedings with a creditably played programme of , musical selections. The amount put through the totalisator was £35,978 as against £20,997 for the first day of the corresponding meeting last year, an increase of £14,981.
