Auckland, July 7. At the inquest concerning the death of Cecil Fortescue, who died as the result of injuries sustained through tailing from a tram car, the Coroner said tnese accidents showed the necessity for strictly enforcing the regulations prohibiting people from standing on the piattorms.

The Invercargill police are informed that George Aitkenhead and Thomas Fitzgerald, bushfellers employed by a farmer between Hedgehope and Tussock Creek, were drowned in the Makarewa river, which runs through tne farmer’s property, this evening. They were crossing; the river, which is in flood, but no further details are yet known.
