WAIPAWA.

(Owu Correspondent.)

In keeping with other churches -of the Dominion, special services of Thanksgiving for the restoration of Peace will be held in Waipawa on Sunday (to-morrow), and sendees are to be held at St. Peter’s, Waipawa, at 8 a.tn., 11 u.m., and 7 p.m. A church parade is to be held at the 11 o’clock service and the Aluuicipal Orchestra will assist in accompanying the musical portion of the service.

A social was held in St. Peter's .■schoolroom recently as a welcome home to tbe sons of Mr. and Mrs. Donghi, Waipawa. About -40 persons were present, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donghi, .senior, and a sumptuous banquet was prepared for the occasion, the tables being tastefully decorated. Included in the list of invitations was one to members of the Waipawa Brass Band Society mid during the evening the bandmaster, Air. B. J. Cosgrove, proposed the health of the returned men. In doing so he congratulated Private Donghi for gaining the honour of a Alilitary Aledal. The band played several selections during the evening which met with considerable applause. Several speeches were made appropriate to the occasion, and a most enjoyable evening terminated with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
