SMOKE CONCERT.
BURTON CUP WINNERS.
An ■exceedingly pleasing function took place in the Napier Bowling Club’s pavilion last night* when the members of the Club tendered aJ smoke concert to the winners of the Burton Cup tit the Easter tournament at Gisborne, viz., Messrs Proctor, Wells, Plested and Lcthani (skip). Mr. S. H. Tuck, vice-presi-dent of the Club, presided, and in proposing the toast of the guests of the evening, heartily congratulated them on their win, which was a very popular one. Other members a iso voiced their congratulation to the rink in bringing the cup to Napier. Mr. Letham and his team briefly replied, and thanked members for their appreciative remarks. He. also paid tribute to the tine bow-ling ot his rink. Several other toasts were proposed and duly honoured, and two or three pleasant hours were spent in music, song and story. Needless to say the health of the rink was drunk in bumpers, and the wish expressed that they would distinguish themselves on the next occasion when the cup is competed for. The evening’s proceedings closeu with the singing of “For They are Jolly Good Fellows,” and the National Anthem.
