SENIOR GRADE

HASTINGS B v. HIGH SCHOOL. On the first day High School were disposed of in their first innings for 47 runs, and Hastings had lost two wickets tor 330 runs, Paterson not out, 77. Continuing on Saturdav, the latter added 147 to their total*. making it 477, Paterson retiring at-204 and Cohen at 106. Davis (48) also batted well. Stewart (five wickets for 118 runs) was High School’s most successful trundler. When time was called High School had lost nine wickets for 127 runs in their second innings, Jacobsen (56) and Lewis (31) being the chief scorers. A two-point victory was thus gained by Hastings by 430 runs on the first innings. SCINDE v. HASTINGS A.

On the previous Saturday Hastings A made 171 in their first strike and Scinde lost five wickets for 182 runs (Johnson 52 not out, and Seed 26 not out). Continuing on Saturday. the two batsmen named carried the total to 264 before being separated, having marie a partnership of 148 runs. The remaining batsmen added another 55 runs, and the innings closed for 319, the best scores being Johnson 103, Seed 65, O’Brien 63. and Tyers 29. In their second innings Hastings only made 87 runs—Fryer 27. Toothill 20, and Napier 16 — thus giving Scinde a three-point victory by an innings, and 61 runs. POSITION OF TEAMS.

JUNIOR GRADE. HIGH SCHOOL A. v. HIGH SCHOOL B. High School A secured a two-point win over High School B by 8 runs on the first innings. Batfmg first the latter scored.7B runs, of which Hickling made 26 and West 18. In reply, the A team made 86 runs — Barnby 32 not out. Ward 12 and Holt 10.
