GENERAL MEETING.

A well attended general meeting of the Napier Chamber of Comrfterce rear held yesterday afternoon. Jfr. A. C. Matheson'presided. The Hon. IV. D. S, MacDonald in connection with a deputation thar waited pn him regarding the necessity for telephonic communication between Napier and “Wellington during business, libnrS. said this was one Of the works placed on urgent list and a recommendation will be made for this as soon as suitable wire is available. A communication was received from the Department of Internal Affairs intiling delegates to attend the Town Planning Conference and Exhibition to be held in Wellington in Mat. It was decided to take tin action in the matter. A letter was received from Williams and Kettl ' regarding the publishing of dates of arrival of over seas mails and pointed out that in the cas- of the Niagara and Makur., whose date of arrival was mentioned m Auckland papers was not published her?. It was considered high time to have something done whereby the people will know the likely dates of mails'arriving etc. The matter was referred to the secretary' and chairman to wait on the Post master to have the matter rente died.
